A Glowing Fiesta in Tucson

What a great weekend we had in Arizona!

The Neon Vibe spent this last weekend throwing an event for the city of Tucson. The run took place at beautiful Reid Park in the heart of the city. We had a great time getting to know the people of Tucson and partying the night away. We can't wait to get back!

We flew in to Tucson on Wednesday. We took some time getting to know the city, driving through the down town area and going to the venue later that night to check on lighting for the course.

Thursday was packet pickup at the hotel. We want to give a shout out to Steven at the Holiday Inn for making our packet pickup in the lobby comfortable. Zach from Memory Lounge spent the day inviting each runner to download the new photo sharing software he created. Thanks to all the runners that came out the day before the run to pick up their packets. It makes race day a lot less stressful knowing you don't have to wait in line.

That night we went out to dinner at La Parilla Suiza, and it was absolutely delicious. Tucson has great Mexican food and we were lucky to find one of the better restaurants in the area to have dinner. To any of the Tucson locals that haven't had a chance to try out their food, go as soon as you can! I wish we had La Parilla Suiza closer to us!

Friday was race day. We got to Reid Park around 7:30 in the morning to begin set up. Race day is always a very long, but rewarding one. We did our best to set up a vibrant environment that our runners could be proud of. There is a lot of background work--setting up barricades, lighting, organizing the course, etc.., but we were lucky to have a great crew with plenty of energy.

The event itself was awesome! The people of Tucson had an impressive amount of vigor and enthusiasm and we were proud to be a part of it. Thanks to all the people that came out to the run and a special thanks to all the volunteers that came to help. We were overwhelmed with the hospitality and helpfulness the people of Tucson showed to the Neon Vibe. Again, we had a great time in Tucson and look forward to continuing our tour around the rest of the country!
